Unknown Horror video
For this Halloween I have decided to make a shorter video covering the Unknown Horror from the Haunted Cave mutator. Writing this video has been particularly fun. Reminds me of The Mystery of Karl or Lore of the Rivals. Improving my writing abilities has been a key focus for me this year. I spend a lot of time writing now. The smallest size plain notebook you can buy sits at my side each day. It keeps track of my thoughts throughout the day. If something is too large for it, I have a place on my computer for it.
Website work
Platforms change quicker than ever these past few years, and usually I'm not too fond of how they change lately. While YouTube is a requirement, I would like to put as much as I can on my own website so that I can worry less about having to migrate off a platform once the threshold of being god awful is met.
I've completely rebuilt my website so that when you view it on a phone it isn't terrible to interact with. It looks very similar, but the back end is a whole different beast. Instead of writing it by hand I am using an open source tool called Instatic, which allows for me to even set up a blog with relative ease! I'm excited to get that all up and running, and then you can read this post on either Patreon or my website! (thanks for reading this here it means a lot)
Thoughts on all the Deep Rock Galactic news
Video game showcases usually are a slog, but I quite enjoyed the Big Break Showcase. While obviously I am there for DRG news, there was a lot of really cool games and pleasant interviews with developers.
The amount of DRG announcements was actually larger than I expected. Season 07 has some pretty exciting features. New perks and perk system reworks, along with twenty secondary weapon overclocks. Long time coming for this stuff.
Past that Season 08 is set for Q2 next year, and it'll be joined by a paid expansion DLC that isn't just cosmetics. This has been surprisingly uncontroversial to the community, which is quite rare these days. For me it really depends on the scale of the expansion and how it is implemented into the game. If this is significantly larger than a season's content, I am more than happy to pay money for it to exist. Any amount of new Deep Rock Galactic is good with me. It is unfortunate to see this change after so many years, but I also do think that seasons are limited in their scope due to being free updates. I am optimistic and intrigued to see what is next for the game.
Rogue Core's third update was teased with a little boss animation. I've known about "Bullet Hell" boss for a bit now, and tried it in various different states. The most recent version felt quite fun. Lots of bright projectiles to dodge and a large tentacle wielding fella in a pit. Besides the boss this update is looking to be Rogue Core's largest. New elevator objectives, a weapon, enemies drop expenite by default, and honestly so much more that hasn't been shown off yet. Excited to see how it all comes together in November.
Have a good day,
sniss <3
